Eco-friendly DECOR from Burnes
Boston, MA - July 1, 2008 - According to Recycling Revolution.com, the amount of wood thrown away each year could heat 50 million homes for 20 years. As for plastic, Americans recycle only five percent of what they use. This non-biodegradable material is clogging 25 percent of our landfills.
As part of an enterprise-wide initiative to reduce corporate waste, Burnes has addressed both issues with its new DECOR collection of photo frames made of reclaimed wood and recycled plastic. The company is donating a percentage of the proceeds from every DECOR purchase to Save the Earth (www.savetheearth.org), a foundation that funds education and research on environmental issues.
DECOR designs are intentionally timeless, offering a variety of broad-appeal looks and finishes, to ensure long product life. The reclaimed wood frames are a unique, high-quality, sustainable product made of "idle wood" sourced from old warehouses, buildings, bridges, and shipping pallets. These wide profile frames are distressed with nail holes, bolt marks, and other details that attest to the wood's long, useful life. They come in two traditional finishes - natural and dark walnut - and two crackled styles: grass green and chocolate/cream.
DECOR's recycled plastic frames not only re purpose material that would otherwise end up in landfills, but also preclude new plastic production - reducing oil and energy consumption and pollution emissions. Classic dimensional profiles come in two metallic finishes - gold and bronze - with just a touch of glitz.
Some of these designs are manufactured in Burnes' Durango, Mexico, factory, substantially reducing transportation costs and emissions expended during importation. In addition, DECOR's low-impact, recyclable gift boxes - printed using non-toxic vegetable-based ink - have higher yield (less material wasted during production) than standard packaging.
There are 20 DECOR frames in sizes ranging from 4"x6" to 8"x10", plus some multi opening designs. Suggested retail prices are $xx to $xx. For more information, call
