Pacific Dry Goods Products

PACIFIC DRY GOODS partners with SAVE THE EARTH FOUNDATION to support environmental research
Leading producer of all-natural viscose cloths and sponges to donate 5% of sales

Richmond, CA  March, 2008 –Pacific Dry Goods, a manufacturer of biodegradable, 100% ecologically-sensitive products for almost three decades, has partnered with the Save the Earth Foundation to support environmental research. The company will donate 5% of sales from its extensive eco-friendly lines - including the newly-released EcoTowl® and EcoSponge® beginning immediately. All of PDG's products will also carry the non-profit Save the Earth Foundation seal to encourage individual consumers to donate as well.

One of the earliest 'green' companies in the U.S., Pacific Dry Goods created the first all-natural viscose wipes and sponges for the mass consumer market, released in 1982. Made exclusively from sustainable plant-based materials, PDG's products help save the environment by eliminating the need for paper towels and non-biodegradable disposables. Versatile, lightweight and amazingly absorbent, they pick up nearly 10 times their weight in liquid and release over 92% of the moisture when wrung out. They're also machine-washable, without losing their effectiveness for tackling tough jobs.

Pacific Dry Goods' 20 different brands - among them, the bestselling Chef Towl™, Wippity Wipes®, and SuperSponges™-- can be found in more than 5500 retail outlets nationwide, including Acme Fresh Markets, Albertsons, Alpine Market, Bashas' Food City, Coborn's, Cub Foods, Food 4 Less, Foodland, Food Lion, Haggen, Hy-Vee, King Soupers, Kroger Co., Meijers, No Frills Supermarkets, Piggly Wiggly, Price Chopper, Publix, Raley's, Ralph's, Remke, Rosauer's, Roth Family Markets, Safeway, Schnucks, Scolari's, Spartan, Super K-Mart, Super Saver, Superior Super Warehouse, TidyMarts, Winn-Dixie, and Yokes. Several are also carried by such gourmet and grocery retailers as Sur La Table and Whole Foods, and as a private label for other major chains.

PDG uses only the finest viscose fabric in the world - produced from award-winning Lenzing Viscose® fibers in Austria. Among other honors, the company has received the World Wildlife Federation's Panda Award and the European Eco-Label (the first fiber manufacturer selected) for both its sustainable forest management and its manufacturing and energy production practices.

Since 1981, Pacific Dry Goods has used the services of the Contra Costa Chapter of the Association for Retarded Citizens to cut, assemble and package the majority of its products. The non-profit organization, which employs 250 adults with developmental disabilities in the Bay Area alone, has twice selected PDG for its distinguished ARC Business of the Year Award. "When Pacific Dry Goods created its first ecologically-sensitive products almost three decades ago, most of us had never heard the words 'global warming.' With the future of our planet now in jeopardy, we wanted to do more - and the best way of doing that seemed to be by making science a beneficiary of the success of our viscose lines," says PDG founder Brian Hudson. "So we're very pleased to be working with the Save the Earth Foundation, which has an excellent track record of getting donations to the research efforts that most need it."

Adds Neal Pargman, founder of the Save the Earth Foundation: "Pacific Dry Goods has long been a friend to the environment in every aspect of its business model. Hopefully, their success will inspire other companies to evaluate the long-term impact of their own products and manufacturing processes. We're thrilled to welcome them to our family of corporate sponsors."
